The USES family gives a warm welcome to 2019 filled with excitement for the fantastic plans in store for the New Year!

2. January 11

3. January 13

Josh Kraft and the New England Patriots Foundation visit USES kids bearing special Build-A-Bear Workshop gifts!

4. February 8

USES co-sponsors a silent art auction and fiber arts exhibition to raise funds for the Theresa-India Young Ethnic Weaving Scholarship to help preserve weaving and its traditions for emerging artists.

5. March 9

The Camp Hale Alumni Association hosts a gaming night to help support Camp Hale and enjoy fun games, local food, and good company!

6. March 15

The Early Childhood Education program gets an upgrade with a brand new library filled with a variety of books for the kids to share!

7. March 28

STEAM Night gives parents a glimpse of our unique science, technology, engineering, and math curriculum that promotes art and creative expression.

9. April 3

Former USES art teacher Julia reads a section of her new book “The Little Glass Treasure House” to students in our Early Childhood Education program.

10. April 7

Parents graduate from the Power of Parenting program, a course that helps parents connect and learn important skills from each other.

11. April 19

Camp Hale Leaders and Counselors in Training gather at USES to partake in a leadership training session and present about the power of camp connections to club48 kids.

12. April 26

Families across all programs take part in collaborative, educational and active games at our Family Game Night!

13. May 23

USES families from Ethiopia, India, Portugal, and Puerto Rico host stations with homemade food and interactive activities to celebrate their cultures with the community on International Night.

14. May 31

Friends, neighbors, and community members gather at The Neighborhood Gala and help us exceed our fundraising goals and celebrate USES’s impact on over 360 children and families! Click here to watch our recap video.

15. June 13

Children in our Early Childhood Education program learn about plants, gardening, and composting by making leaf-impressions with watercolors and planting their own vegetables!

16. June 22

The Camp Hale community celebrates the completion of Phase One of Camp Hale’s master plan, including the construction of a new dining hall, infirmary, and leach field.

17. July 2

The summer session of club48 kicks off with a field trip to Farrington Nature Linc to learn about plants and nature!

18. July 17

club48 learns about the owl’s digestive system by inspecting owl pellets and using tools to help determine what their owl has eaten!

19. July 18

Kids from club48 bond with preschoolers by reading books to them at story time!

Campers show off their Camp Hale pride during an amazing first few sessions on Squam Lake!

club48 kids observe zebras and other animals at the Franklin Park Zoo to get a real-life look at the wildlife they’ve been learning about in the classroom.

Genscape kicks off STEAM Week by donating computers and supplies to help run educational activities for USES kids.

24. August 12

Camp Hale girls share laughs at the start of the fourth and final session of camp for the summer!

25. August 13

USES kids join the New England Patriots at their Training Camp to meet players and spend time on the field at Gillette Stadium!

26. August 16

Camp Hale gives girls an environment in which they can learn, grow, and harness their girl power!

USES partners with the Southwest Corridor Park to send club48 to Titus Sparrow Park for a painting session of their surroundings!

club48 attends Youth Adventure Day at the Rose Kennedy Greenway to play games in the park, explore Greenway Public Art, and eat lunch from local Boston food trucks!

30. August 28

USES kids create and display their own superhero costumes in a special Superhero Fashion Show!

31. August 29

The STEAM Showcase displays the amazing art club48 created over the summer for USES families to enjoy!

32. September 23

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts helps beautify the USES building and playground.

33. September 26

Families across all programs welcome the fall season with yard games, face painting, dancing, and snacks at the Family Fun Fest in the 48 Rutland Street courtyard!

34. September 27

The Stars preschool classroom visits The Piano Craft Gallery to create art based on what inspires them in the abstract paintings by local Boston artists!

35. October 3

The Museum of Fine Arts and the New England Aquarium both visit the club48 afterschool kids to run a variety of STEAM activities!

36. October 18

USES celebrates the teachers and staff who help our children learn and grow with a spooky appreciation snack tray!

38. October 31

USES kids show off their Halloween looks in the Costume Parade and take part in other spooktacular family festivities for the holiday!

39. November 1

Harriet History Week inspires a music lesson on African American folk songs that highlight Harriet Tubman’s bravery in helping her friends get to safety through the night.

40. November 5

The Josiah Quincy Orchestra Program visits our preschoolers to spread the joy of music-making!

41. November 6

USES toddlers explore different textures, including paint on bubble wrap and mixing their own play-doh!

42. November 12

Preschoolers welcome “Let My People Go,” a sculpture of Harriet Tubman commissioned by USES in 1989, to the entrance of our 48 Rutland Street building.

43. November 13

USES hosts a screening of the movie “Harriet” followed by a panel discussion, led by President & CEO Maicharia (featuring Reverend Irene Monroe, Marie St. Fleur and Frieda Garcia), about carrying Harriet Tubman’s legacy into the 21st century.

44. November 14

Families in our Cooking Matters class learn how to shop and cook healthy meals on a limited budget!

45. November 25

Kids enjoy music time by experimenting with drums and learning how to sing and sign (in American Sign Language) different songs. Click here to watch the preschoolers sign the song “Family Tree!”

46. December 3

USES preschoolers stay warm as they enjoy the first snowfall of the winter!

47. December 12

Victory! The BDPA votes to approve the development of 566 Columbus Avenue thanks to the overwhelming support from the USES community.

USES families enjoy a healthy and affordable meal that they prepared at the final class of Cooking Matters.

49. December 20

Families come together at the Winter Wonderland gathering to celebrate the holidays and another wonderful year at USES!
