Where is Camp Hale and is it the same as Hale Reservation?
Camp Hale and Hale Reservation are NOT the same program. Camp Hale is an overnight camping program located in the White Mountain in New Hampshire, about 2 hours from Boston.
Does Camp Hale offer a day camp?
If you are a permanent or summer resident of New Hampshire and would like to sign your child up for Camp Hale without the overnight portion, please contact Gareth Boone, Director of Camp Hale at (603) 998-7295 or gboone@uses.org. Non-New Hampshire residents do not qualify for the day camp option.
I registered online, what’s next?
Please check your email. You should have received an automated email response once you completed your registration. This email contains all of your next steps and a link to the rest of the paperwork you need to fill out. Don’t forget to submit an updated physical and immunizations as well as proof of income if you are applying for subsidy.
I didn’t get the automated email, what do I do?
Please check your junk mail and make sure gboone@uses.org is added to your approved list. If you didn’t get it in the junk mail, you may have entered your email incorrectly on the application. In that case, email Gareth Boone and we will resend you the email.
How do I know what my fee is?
Once you submit your income verification form and proof of income, we will send you your fee. You may also refer to our sliding scale.
I am not applying/do not qualify for a sponsorship/subsidy; do you need my income information?
Yes! In this case, you are only required to fill out the income verification form and are not required to submit proof of income. You MUST fill out the SSN on the income form.
How do I apply for sponsorship?
Fill it out the income verification form completely (see the link in the automated email). Send it to Gareth Boone at gboone@uses.org. Please include proof of income (pay stubs, w2, SSI, child support, food stamps, etc.). Once we have ALL of your income documentation, we will give you a fee. After you receive your fee, we are happy to send you a sponsorship application.
How much sponsorship can I apply for?
We do our best to help as many families as possible. Therefore, we typically will only fund partial sponsorships. Please apply for as much as you realistically need but be aware that we may not be able to meet your entire request.
What do I do after I receive a sponsorship?
Depending on where your sponsorship comes from, there are different requirements. You will receive instructions along with your sponsorship award. All sponsorship recipients are required to write a Thank You letter and send it to Gareth so he can distribute it accordingly.
I made a half payment when I registered, how do I pay the rest?
Payments can be made by money order (made out to Camp Hale) or credit card (in person or over the phone). We are also working to develop a link to send to families for additional online payments.
Can I set up a payment plan?
Yes! Contact Gareth Boone at gboone@uses.org or call (603) 998-7295 to do so.
My child is attending a Rookie Camp session, can he/she stay for the full session after Rookie Camp?
Unfortunately, we cannot hold a slot for your child to attend the full session based on whether or not she/he enjoys Rookie Camp. Therefore, if you sign up your child for Rookie Camp and would potentially like for him/her to continue for the remainder of a session, you must sign up for the whole session. If at the end of Rookie camp, he/she decides not to stay we will not refund the remaining balance because we will not be able to fill the slot with such short notice.
Can I drive my child to camp?
We strongly encourage children to take the bus to camp with the other campers. Their bonding with their peers and the staff begins the moment they step foot on the bus. If you have a departure conflict, please contact Gareth Boone at gboone@uses.org or call (603) 998-7295 to discuss.
Is there a visiting day/can I pick my child up from camp?
We do not have a visiting day during the camp sessions. Instead, we provide families with the option of picking up their children from camp. When you drop your child off to leave for camp, we will ask you whether or not your child will take the bus home. You can sign up for onsite pick up at this time.
Does my child need to have an interview?
Camper interviews are strongly recommended for new campers. Please contact Gareth Boone at gboone@uses.org or call (603) 998-7295 to set up yours today!
What does my child need to bring?
A list of supplies was included in the email you received upon registering. Please refer back to that for information on clothing, laundry, etc. If you are signed up for a Trip & Travel Program, you will receive additional information pending Richard’s approval of your child’s application.
Is my registration refundable?
All payments are final and non-refundable.
Can my teen work at camp?
We have a limited amount of teen positions for boys and girls every summer. Teens should contact Gareth Boone at gboone@uses.org or call (603) 998-7295 if they are interested in working at camp. We ask that parents have their teens reach out to us directly as we are trying to teach them responsibility and job readiness skills.
