Our young artists from the February Vacation Arts Program were busy last week creating art and making a colorful mess! The Petite Picassos made their very own sketchbooks and art smocks that help lay the foundation for art making habits. Using recycled materials, we created puppets and had the opportunity to put on our very own play. Then we got messy creating bird nests out of string and discussed what animals could live in our nests.
The Calder Kids had a blast creating different sensory materials and color mixing with paint and mud! We learned about artist Paul Klee and made our very own self portraits experimenting with tissue paper color transfers. Our all time favorite was making pet rocks and special habitats for them to live.
The Frida Friends learned how to make pop up cards, weaving and even sewing. Working in small teams, each group collaboratively created sculptures out of recycled materials and had a chance to present their creations in front of their peers at the end of the session.
