SOUTH END CENTER FOR ADULT EDUCATION
Welcome to the South End Center for Adult Education! United South End Settlements' South End Center for Adult Education provides the community with programs that enable individuals to enhance professional and personal skills, explore new educational areas, meet one another, engage in discussions, and learn how to help themselves and their community for an equitable amount of time and money. This program is a new initiative designed to bring together new and old, low and high-income South Enders, as well as South Enders of various ages, genders, lifestyles, and races. The South End Center is based on adult education centers that currently exist in other parts of the city, but our focus is on improving community relationships within the highly diverse South End neighborhood as well as encouraging the growth of the individual. We pride ourselves on being a place in the community where you can take high-quality classes at a reasonable price, many courses taught by your friends and neighbors. This fall’s offerings include courses in a variety of subjects: Arts & Crafts; Business & Investing; Computers; Dance; Exercise; Food & Wine; Home & Garden; Languages; Literature & Writing; Mind, Body & Soul; Philosophy & Religion; Photography, Film & Video; and Work Life, as well as Senior Courses & Events and Children’s Art Centre courses. *Twenty percent of the slots in any given South End Center class are reserved for low-income individuals. To qualify, one must call 617-375-8137 for further information on applying. Once determining if a student is qualified, low-income individuals pay only one-third the listed price of any course.
